Friday and Tuesday the UIL Academic and Speech Team competed in the District 18-3A Meet. For the second year in a row we finished 2nd place in the overall sweepstakes (made up of all academic, speech, and one-play results).
The following students advanced to the Regional competition in Brenham on April 27th.
Accounting- District Champion Team made up of Cutter Burrow, Vanessa Luna, Katelyn Jack, and Olivia Jones; Individual results- Cutter Burrow (1st), Vanessa Luna (2nd), and Katelyn Jack (3rd)
Computer Applications- Katelyn Jack (1st) and Olivia Jones (2nd)
Copy Editing- Cutter Burrow (1st), Maggie Partin (3rd)
Editorial Writing- Arabelle Morgan (3rd)
Feature Writing- Penelope Morgan (2nd) and Ryker Gorrell (3rd)
Headline Writing- Ryker Gorrell (1st)
Literary Criticism- District Champion Team made up of Cutter Burrow, Nate Foshee, Ryker Goreell, and Olivia Jones; Individual results- Cutter Burrow (1st)
News Writing- Arabelle Morgan (1st)
Number Sense- Juan Vera and Vanessa Luna (3rd place tie)
Poetry Interpretation- Kaitlyn Mathews (1st)
Spelling and Vocabulary- James Miller (2nd)
Journalism Team- District Champions made up of the competitors in Ready Writing, Copy Editing, Editorial Writing, Feature Writing, News Writing, and Headline Writing (Arabelle Morgan, Penelope Morgan, Vtalya Cominsky, Ryker Gorrell, Cutter Burrow, Maggie Partin, and Kaitlin McElhaney)


PHS TRAVEL OPPORTUNITY REMINDER:
There will be an informational meeting for our Summer 2026 EF Japan trip on April 15th and 16th, 6 PM at the high school.

⚾️ Baseball Update:
The game tonight against Madison has been canceled due to weather. We will release the makeup date when it becomes available.

All aboard the kindergarten train! We would like to invite incoming kindergarteners and their families for Kinder Round-Up! We hope to see you there!
Please make sure that kindergarten registration is completed online prior to coming.


🥎 Softball Update:
Due to weather, we have moved tonight's softball game vs. Scurry-Rosser to the Red Oak Sports Complex. First pitch will be at 4:30, we will honor the seniors after the game.

Mile Relay made up of Logan Medina, Ryker Gorrell, Eric Cisneros, and Holden Smith placed 3rd and qualified for Area!


Isaiah Fuentes placed 4th in 200m and is an Area Qualifier!


Eric Cisneros won the district in the 300 M hurdles with a time of 41.2!


Boys 4x200 made up of Logan Medina, Isaiah Fuentes, Holden Smith, and Ryker Gorrell placed 3rd and are Area Qualifiers.


Varsity Girls 4x200 made up of Kenli Dobie, Samantha Maddox, Kylee Alford, and Reagan Davis are Area Qualifiers with a 3rd place finish!

Last day to add-on to any of our hard working FFA/Jr. FFA students who exhibited ag mechanics or animal projects at the Ellis County Youth Expo last week, is tomorrow 4/5!

Bulldog Baseball remains unbeaten in district with a 10-0 win over Trinity Cedar Hill, Tuesday night.
They will complete the series at Trinity Cedar Hill, Friday at 5:30 PM

🥎 Softball Update!
JV softball wrapped up thier season with a win over Life Oak Cliff 12-3 Tuesday night.
Varsity softball remains unbeaten in district with a 19-0 win over Life Oak Cliff.
District play continues Friday against Dallas Madison at home starting at 5 PM
